What We Do
We care for and advocate for women and children facing the effects of the Tigrayan war through our four strategic project areas of providing clean water, medicinal support, educational supplies, and rehabilitation.
-
Care for Women and Children's Wellness
We are actively involved in providing dignity kits, food products, and when feasible, health support to the women and children who face devastation at a genocidal level. We also work to rehabilitate rape victims and widows.
-
Advocate for People in Need
Yodit for Women and Children Foundation stands with Tigrayans and victims everywhere to actively create changes for a better future. Let us join together and fight against this collective punishment so that women and children will no longer face the horrors of rape and hunger.

5 Strategic Project Areas
We greatly appreciate your support! If you would like to donate to a specific project fund,
please see "Additional Information" and checkmark your preference.
As we continue to implement these projects, the water project, medicinal supply, and educational supplies to refugees are going to be prioritized to immediately accessible locations including refugees camps. However, the remaining projects are part of long-term plans and can only be addressed once access to Tigray is granted.
Project 1: Clean Water
The war in Tigray has caused unprecedented crises to the refugees and internally displaced people. When Tigrayans fled Tigray, they were initially consuming river water from Tekeze, which became the main health hazard to our society.
Communicable diseases such as dysentery and other diarrheal disease became rampant. Many, especially children, perished from easily preventable diseases.
Yodit for women and children foundations has recognized the water problem as a time-sensitive matter and will be dedicating its time and your donations to alleviate the problem.
Projects
Surface-water conversion to drinkable water.
With as small as $18.00 /household, we can provide a lifetime safe water supply using filters capable of removing dirt and killing 99.9% of microbial organisms. This technology can be used locally and families are able to move around and even take it with them when they return home. The system provides an easy and safe water supply for each family or household of 6 individuals. For schools and rural health facilities such as health centers, large filters will be installed that can decontaminate and filter up to 20,000 gallons of water per day. Each filter will cost up to $700.00 per school/filter. This project will start once access to Tigray is established.
Chlorination projects: (portable chlorine generating machines) using a few ounces of salts and water, water chlorination will be provided to IDP’s. This technology is easily applicable and providers can travel from IDP to IDP and chlorinate stored water without having to purchase chlorine. This technology can be provided for less than $1000.00
Project 2: Medicinal Support
As you’re all well aware; 85% of Tigray’s health infrastructures were destroyed in the first few months of the war. Medications and medical supplies were looted or destroyed.
YWCF will be actively involved in securing medical supplies and highly needed medications in a timely manner. We will be using your donations to purchase medication and pay for shipments.
Project 3: Educational Supplies
Our children are our hope and the future of civilization depends on good educational support. Unfortunately, Tigrayan children came short of their dream, the dream of achieving success through basic education. These opportunities were snatched away in a blink of an eye.
The war in Tigray not only caused the ultimate horror to our children, but it also destroyed their future. For nearly a year education has been on halt, schools have been looted and most of them have become shelters for internally displaced families. Millions of people live now, in school.
YWCF will bring awareness about the importance of school and reignite educational initiatives. We’ll be the advocates and supporters. We will stand by our people. YWCF will help raise funds to support the educational system. Providing educational supplies and improving access to better education. Our children’s dreams depend on us!
Project 4: Rehabilitation
For our society who endured torturous ordeal and suffering, our long-term plans include:
We will provide the villagers and other community members with easy-to-use community-based grinders, switching from the manual and quite labor-intensive grinder to a more technologically sound and easily accessible communal service that will definitely become more productive.
Moreover, by giving ownership to rape victims and widows, we will be changing their life by creating job opportunities and sources of sustainable incomes for the years to come.
Project 5: Rebuilding
In Tigray, 85% of infrastructures, including health structures, are completely destroyed. Refugees are in dire conditions and their day-to-day life is at the mercy of the weather. When there is bad weather and rainy season in all the camps, it has created panic and reportedly destroyed a significant number of tents. Some refugees had managed to reinforce their tents in advance, but most lacked the material and funds to do so and are often seen sharing tents with others or in communal shelters.
Yodit for Women and Children Foundation pledges to identify problems, assist in planning and implementing goals in rebuilding the desecrated state, especially the health structures. By working with people through our foundation, gathering resources, and collaboration with other NGO’s and local providers, we are working to rebuild tents, buildings, and medical facilities.
